The trustee in charge has stretched the deadline to claim the money lost during Mt. Gox’s collapse. As announced, the last date to file the claim has been extended to March of the year 2020.
Nobuaki Kobayashi verified the extension one day before the current deadline, stating, “In light of the foregoing, the Rehabilitation Trustee filed a motion to seek an extension of the submission deadline of a rehabilitation plan at the Tokyo District Court, and, on October 25, 2019, the Tokyo District Court issued an order to extend the deadline for a rehabilitation plan to March 31, 2020.”
Mt. Gox was destroyed in early 2014, making around 24k people suffer from losses. Approximately 850,000 bitcoins, amounting to $460 million, vanished from the records. An immensely high volume of requests for money return has been reported as the reason for the further push of the deadline.
