Rhino Trading, the proprietor of OTCPro, intended to transfer $65,300 (99,500 Australian dollars) to Chai's account. However, due to a clerical error, ten times that amount was deposited in January. When the mistake was discovered on February 4, attempts to communicate with Chai and rectify the error proved futile. Chai has since become incommunicado, not responding to emails, calls, or legal summons, raising alarms and prompting legal action.

Further investigation revealed that Chai might have capitalized on the mistake, purchasing Tether and making maximum daily withdrawals from the exchange, totaling about $626,700 (956,000 Australian dollars) over ten days.
